i94 not received with H1 Visa Extension form i797

My H1 extension has been approved till Dec 2017.
But my i94 was not issued. My lawyer has immediately filed for i94. p
My earlier i94 is going to expire in next 5 days. Can I stay in US and work beyond?

How the extension get approved with a new I-94? Are you saying the extension that you filed actually got approved for consular process? If so, what steps did the lawyer take? Did the lawyer already filed an amendment to get the I-94 extended? If yes, then you can continue to stay and work. If not, you will need to leave the country before your current I-94 expires.
