Urgent!! 60 Day grace period from H4 to H1

Hi all,

I came on H4 in USA and then applied for h1b which got approved on 13th Oct 2004.
I started working on 1st Dec 2004.
There is 47 days gap during my change of status.
Is it an issue when I go to Mumbai consulate for H1B stamping?
I heard there is 60 days grace period allowed for change of status.
Is that true and where is that written?

Also, I did not get my SSN and had to wait and so this gap is there for me during change of status.

As far as I know, there is nothing like Grace period for any kind of situation/status change.
