Driving Licence Renewal after 2 years

Hi,
I stayed in US for 6 years, had Driving Licence that time for last 5 years.
After 6 years came back to India for 2 years.
Now I got new H1B and going back to USA, now my question is
shall I go through all the process of written and on road test for a new Driving Licence
or can I simply renew my DL based on my new H1B ?
please let me know if anyone have an idea on it, thank you

My understanding is that you'd have to go through the whole process again unless you are simply extending a currently valid license. It would make sense to go to your state's BMV site and figure it out for sure. Or just call them. It could differ from state to state.
