Marriage Certificate for H4 - Mumbai

Hi,
Can some one pls. provide details on how to get the marriage certificate in case of Hindu weddings? I heard some one from the registrar's office attends the wedding and gives the certificate next day. Is it true? Do we have to apply couple of months before marriage? Is there any other requirement? Any help online where I can read it?
