H1 Visa - surname of spouse not mentioned in passport

Hi,

I recently got my H1B petition approved. I have following two situations -

1. My H1B approval notice carry my Given name as well as surname - YYYY (given name), YYY (surname). But my passport (Indian) has only given name - ZZZ. Please advise whether I should go for addition of surname on my passport, or get the approval notice amended by requesting them to remove the surname.

2. If i add surname in my passport, then it will become inconsistent with my wife's passport. In my wife passport (in spouse name section), only my given name is mentioned. would it still be fine, or I will have to change my surname in her passport as well.
