Transferring H1B to new employer while extension is in progress and current visa exp

Hi,

I came to US in Nov, 2014 on H1B for a client in Illinois. My employer changed my location to work with another client in California in July, 2015.

My employer filed H1B amendment (as client was changed) and extension (as my visa expiry date was Sep,2015).

Now my visa is expired and amendment/extension status on USCIS is 'Case was received'.


I got a receipt for extension/amendment from USCIS.

Please suggest:

1. Can I change my employer with above visa status.

2. If Yes, How would it work.

>>> You can certainly try. There are cases where USCIS has issued RFEs when a transfer is filed while the amendment is pending. Has your I-94 expires? If yes, then it will be a bridge petition.
