H1B to H4 COS -Legal Status- Quit before I received my H4

I filed for a I539 to change my status from H1B to H4 in September and I have already received my receipt. The latest updates in the USCIS informs me of delays in the processing time for this application.


I have resigned my job and next friday is my last day. My H4 visa start date was suppose to be Feb 1.

Can I legally stay in the US, as long as my COS is being processed even though I don't have a job?

I am in the same situation.. I checked with 3 to 4 attorneys and all said that as far as we filed the H4 before H1 expiry we are good to stay with H4 receipt..
So you should be fine.
