Conversion from H1B to F1

Hi,

I am working on H1B in US currently and would be joining school next fall in 2017 as student. I have the following questions regarding switching Visa from H1 to F1 :

1. Do I need to go back to my home country - India to get Visa Transfer from H1 to F1 ? If yes then how safe is that? Is there any option to directly transfer to F1 upon receiving I-20 from the university? Or to get F1 stamped from US/Canada?

2. As I will be joining the school in August, I am planning to continue my job until then. Can I do that, considering the stamping for F1?

3. When I first came to US, I was on F1 visa and I gave the interview back in India about 2 months earlier (in Beginning of June). Do I need to do the same this time as well? Because in that case I have to leave my job by May and take a risk of leaving US for F1 stamping.

4. As we know, H1B stamping can be done a little after it is received. Can the same be done for F1? For example, can I join the school in August without returning to India and in the earliest semester break I go home and get F1 stamped?
