VFS dropbox processing time for H1B case- Chennai Consulate

I saw a article in one of the websites stating consulate officers in chennai consulate are in shortage .. and moreover due to the appointment over booking in month of january and febraury has caused this back logs!!!!

Its unfair from our side to accept it for more than two months i totally understand it, i hope they will try the best to clear the back logs sorted date wise earliest to till date...

Hope to update you guys if i happen to get any in next week but i dont see anythign happening in the consulate , iam not sure if my h1 validity will go before these guys decide on giving me one or not

I agree with U on the shortage of consulate officers in Chennai.
but when they r in shortage, Y should they allow for over booking thru VFS site? when they r adjusting slots for over booking, why cant they process pending applications which r in Administrative processing and in other processes?

I just seen some1 posted that he is waiting from last November and its still in processing.
Mine is from Jan 06. its nearly 90 days and still same answer.

I given UP hope of getting visa.

221(G) between Jan-Feb 2006 has to wait long!

Hi!! I had my interview on Jan 4th 2006. I was denied visa under section 221(G) and the VO asked me for extra information and asked me to submit the same in the dropbox. I submitted my application with additional information @ VFS dropbox on Feb 2nd and since then I am waiting to hear any kinda reply from the US consulate. It has been 9 whole weeks and counting.................
The forum has a whole load of ppl like us, who are in the dropbox for over 2 months............. I guess the US consulate should take some responsibility and clear the pending applications before taking anymore! God Speed!!!!!!!!!!!

I was also in Q on that 4th Jan at Chennai.
and they taken all my h1 papers and Passport for Admin. processing and no reply yet except still in processing. its more than 90 days and just waiting.

2. Original I-129 Petition for non-immigrant worker.

Can Any one tell me what is I-797. My employer has not provided me the
Same.

797 is the actual approval and I129 is the petition.
You MUST have received both those.
I can't imagine why your employer would not send them.

Hi Friends!!

Dear Friends,

Did anyone got the respone from the consulate. Almost 70days is over through VFS Dropbox, i sent thru VFS, Hyd. And i did not received any information or mail from the consulate. And last time i called, telling the same " your visa is under processing " and no other specific information. What could be the reason for delay? How much more time they can take to clear the visa processing.

Hope they will understand and do faster response in regards to issues of VFS Dropbox applicants.

L1 Individual Petition

Hi All,
My employer filed a L1 Blanket petition. I have been interviewed on 23
February by chennai US consulate. I got an 221(g) blue sheet. Then I
submitted all required docs on 28 February through VFS Drop Box. Then on
April 5, 2006 I got my passport back without stamping. This time again they
issued a fresh 221(g) and asked for the I-797 approval notice. But my
employer says we need to apply for L1 individual. Can any one tell me I-797
is for what purpose?

And for the new L1 individual petition they want a updated CV. Can any body
tell me Is there any specified format for the CV.
I’ll be thankful for any help.

Try going to another consulate. Chennai consulate is only interested in collecting the visa processing fees and rejecting people. Boycott going there.

Hi Friends..!! received passport from VFS mumbai

Hi Friends, Dear Veena,

Today i have received my passport and visa issuance fee DD from VFS Mumbai without stamping. And there is no sign (genrally they will stamp backside page on passport, date of received and the reason if any) on passport on which date they have received my passport from VFS Hyd. I have sent on 25 Jan 2005 through VFS Dropbox, Hyderabad. How do i know that when they have received from VFS Hyd. And

the message is displayed on VFS Website (Track passport delivery).

" Your passport can be collected in person at US visa application centre in New Delhi between 1400-1600 hours.
Kindly produce your HDFC fee receipt and interview appointment letter at the time of collecting your passport.
If your passport is not collected by 1600 hrs, it will be automatically dispatched to you by courier. "

And when i called this morning the consular officer told me that they are sending my passport along with instructions shortly. And i have received the passport and visa issuance fee DD (vfs, mumbai) without instructions sheet. I did not face this kind of situation ever,

What should i do now. When i should send the passport and visa issuance fee DD for stamping to the US consulate, chennai. How can i know the exact status of my H1B Visa process at us consulate, chennai.

Finished 9 weeks running 10th week (221(g) H1B)

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and was reading similar
experiences from u all. My case, I visited the Chennai
consulate on the 15th Feb 06. I was given 221(g).
All my docs were given back to me except for my
passport and visa issuance fee (The officer explained
this way i donot have to revisit the consulate).

The VO handed me a white letter that had 12 questions
related to my academic/professional backgrounds,
responsibilities etc. Answers to these questions had
to be submitted only via e-mail to chennaisao@state.gov.
I provided my responses on the 16th Feb 2006 and still waiting
for my visa. The consulate say it is under admin processing pending
clearance.

Couple of FYI: guys/gals if you dont probably know it
by now.

1. It helps to call the Department of State's visa office
at **2026631225. They can query their systems with ur
passport no. and give u an update on the status of ur
admin processing/security clearance (or whatever crap they
call it)

2. The two e-mail addresses ChennaiSAO@state.gov,
ChennaiNIV@state.gov are the contacts of the chennai
consulate i have been using.

3. You can also write about the pending status of ur case
to VISAS@nas.edu, and fill their visa questionnaire at ***
These guys inform the Department of state of cases that
are pending for more than 30 days.

Good luck for all, and the best way to keep motivated thru
this period is to travel and explore india. We are not gonna
get this much time in india in the future once we get back
to US and back to our grinding schedules. So chill out
travel, have fun and forget abt the visa altogether - It will
come knocking one day - but we should not waste our present
thinking abt that day.

is This is Delhi Consulate office or Chennai' query Consulate phone number?
