H4 dropbox when H4 extension is under RFE

Hi,

My H1 extension was approved couple of weeks back but my wife's H4 (dependent) extension which was filed along with my H1 extension is yet to be approved and it is under RFE.

My H1B and my wife's H4 got expired in October 2015.
My wife is traveling to India next week. Can she do a dropbox for her H4 stamping with my H1B extension approval document ? Or should she be going through the regular visa stamping process at consulate ?

What is the RFE about? If your H1 is approved, she can use the dropbox provided she meets the criteria.
