Wanted to know when can one apply for social security number after the H-1b petition is approved? And what is the procedure? I am sure many fellas out there are aware. Please enlighten.

U can apply SSN being in US...It takes two complite days to update about ur arrival in US.....So after 2days u can apply for SSN...

how much time does it take to get the SSN in VA

Hi,
I just wanted to know how much time does it take to get the Social Security Number in Virginia. Since I came to US on 19th may and I applied SSN after 12 days (31st may). Anyone who has as idea or experience in Virginia. please do let me know.
