  • New H1B visa stamping after layoff

    Hi,
I found new job after layoff and will get my new I-797 in next following weeks. I will require to re-enter US with new H1B stamped visa as my prior one has expired.
Current wait times for visa stamping at various Indian consulates are on average 60 days in future. My question is :-
    1) Can i go to Canadian / Mexican consulates and get visa stamped as they have less wait times ? Any successful stories in similar scenario
    2) Can i use 'emergency situation' criteria by mentioning employment start date which is before the latest visa stamping availability date in India and still go to India?

    Please advise
