H4 visa extension suggestion

I am on H1 and my spouse is on H4. Now my petition is going to be over on September 2016.
I yet to apply for extension . Due to personal reasons , my wife needs to go back to India. If she is india then I cannot apply h4 extension. In that case what I have to do to ensure that she can come back after 8 -9 months.
Do I need to apply H4 visa again ?

What is the expiry date on the H4 visa? If it is Sep 2016, then she needs a new visa to re enter US after Sep 2016
She may be eligible for Dropbox option.
