H1B visa Approved but status administrative processing
I am a medical doctor matched into a pediatric residency position in the US.
Me and my wife had our visa iv on 27th june 2016 for h1b and h4 for wife.
the visa officer said at the time of interview "your visa has been approved and expect an email within a day or two (to collect the passport)"
since then the status is showing administrative processing. He also gave me the handout which said "expect an email from the embassy within 5 working days to collect the passport".
has it happened to anyone else? my residency program has already started from 1st of july and their are getting impatient by the day.
Can anyone guide me in this situation? what can be done at this point to expedite? i have heard some immigration lawyers in the US claim they can expedite administrative processing for h1b is that true? are other people in the same boat or have had similar experiences?
