Travel on OPT with H1B Processing in RFE - Urgent!!

Hi folks,

I am currently on 17th month OPT extension and have filed my H1B application this April, which got an RFE.

Now I need to travel to India for 3 weeks. Is is OK to travel right now? What is the worst case scenario that could happen?

I've heard it is OK to travel and return until the RFE is answered since the Change of Status won't take into effect until H1 is approved. Is it a safe choice?

Or is it possible to withdraw the H1 application altogether to be safe and just travel on OPT.

Please advise!!
