L1 B to H1 B...Need Help

Hello,

I am an Engineer, having about 3 years total experience in mechanical design, mfg, CAD/CAM.
I am currently on deputation from an Indian based company which has office here in USA, on L1-B visa since July-2005.
My L1-B visa expired in aug-05 and I applied for an extension and received the approved petition, valid till AUG-2007.
I have to get my visa stamped when I go back to India in Aug-06.

The questions are
1) How can I apply for any comapnay here and change my job, taking a H1?
2) If I want to apply for H1-B Visa parallely, what are the options for me?
3) How long does the H1B visa takes and how my L1 B visa get cancelled?
4) Will this create any kind of complications with my present employer, whose L1 B visa I have?

Also suggest any good H1 B visa consultants for visa processing.
