H1B Visa Approved but online status shows Administrative Processing

I was approved at the VO kept passport and no documents required, status is AP since 4th jan when I interviewed.

I emailed them today and they replied saying:
My application is refused under 221g for administrative processing. After AP is complete the application will be reconsidered.

This is the normal wording of AP right? it looks so scary to me.

Hi all,

Just wanted to add my experience in London in case someone finds it useful

Interviewed on January 2nd F1-> H1B. Was told about a week for visa but expected 2-3 days as that was the case last time I came to London for stamping. However there was a mistake in my SEVIS record so they put a yellow slip in my folder labelled "SEVIS HIT" but did not give me anything (e.g. 221g paper)

January 2nd - Status updated to generic "Administrative Processing" same day and I started sweating as I did not know it was generic messaging
January 8th - Emailed [email protected] to ask for status and they responded saying it had been updated
January 9th - Status updated but still to generic "Administrative Processing" - now I am scared im in 221g and call the embassy (they are not helpful)
January 10th - Status updated to Issued and got email for passport pickup

Picking up passport tomorrow, already rescheduled flight once so glad I don't have to do it again.

Hope this helps someone, I spent a lot of time on this thread while waiting.

Location NewDelhi, transitioning from F1 to H1b.

Case updated 2 January, Administrative processing
Case updated 8 January, same status
10 January emailed And got to know it's now under 221(g).

I asked them couple of times and all they are saying is to wait. And there is no way to Expedite the process. I have to fly back on 19th. Hope this clears out by then.

I am also transitioning from F1 to H1B - Interviewed on 4th Jan, No updates on case since 4th Jan.
I was flying back on 15th - if it doesn't update today I will have to move flights

SEVIS related

I am also transitioning from f1 to h1b, interview date 4th jan - no update since 4th.

During my interview she told me she needs to check something related to SEVIS and that it will be 1 day delay, i think our delay is because of that only. Lets see what happens.

I had H1b stamping (f1 to h1) interview on 22 Dec at Delhi consulate. VO said visa approved and you will get your passport in seven days. Its still in admin processing. Status date changed three times but same status: AP

22 Dec : interview
26 Dec : admin processing
3 Jan : admin processing
12 Jan : admin processing

I have already cancelled one flight.

No update Yet. I will post as soon as i get any update. I’m observing that most of these case of AP are of F1 to H1 and they are taking 4 to 6 weeks to resolve.
