Traveling to Canada while H1B petition is pending.

Hi everyone,

My H1B visa with old institute will be expired on 6/2/2017. It's the same date for my I-94.
My transfer petition from the new institute was submitted on 10/22/2015, but have not been approved.
My response to the request for evidence for I-129 was received on 7/11/2016.
I will have travel to Canada for two weeks (12/24/2016-1/8/2017).

1. Can I travel with my unexpired old visa with the receipt of new petition that I got last year?
2. Just in case, what happens if my petition gets approved while I am gone? Can I enter with my unexpired old visa with a new approval?
