Filling the DS-160 for H4 visa before marriage

Hi,

I'm on an H1-B visa and will be getting married in June this year. My fiancee - who is in India - and I are wondering if we should fill the DS-160 form and take a visa appointment date before the actual wedding. Of course, we will take the appointment for a date after the marriage, but the question is can we schedule it before to get slots right after the wedding date?

Hi Kartik,

Hope your situation worked-out. I am in a similar situation. I want to get H4-visa appointment 2-3 months advance from marriage but for dates after marriage (obviously). Could you please share your experience.
My second question is that my H1-B extension is in progress (I am in US and my visa expired 6 months back) and I am wiating for approval. Will my petition file number suffice for getting the appointment or is i797 approval also required for just getting the appointment.
I also heard from somebody that marriage certificate is required from getting the appointment. Is this true?
