H1 to L2 Change of status

I have applied for COS in the month of Nov and I am still waiting for the decision.My I-94 expired on 9th Jan 2017,so how long I can stay in US until I get the decision ?
Do I need to call USCIS to check ,as usually doesn't take that much of time.
