H1 and H4 - Visa Interview and Drop Box

Hello Team


Me and my wife both have to get visa stamped on passport. We have a situation which we never encountered so thought of asking.


I am on H1B and have approved I797 A. But my wife who is on H4 visa have not yet received I797A (approval yet).


I assume in order to see if one is eligible for drop box I797 approval notice is must, which my wife is still waiting. FYI we have answer to all drop box eligibility questions as YES. But it do not say anything about that you need to have approved I797 A.


So does it mean -


1) We both need to attend for interview in consulate to get visa stamped?

2) Can I plan for drop box and she can go for visa interview in consulate ? If so how do we do it, both in DS160 and also on your website; Is it two separate DS160 and 2 separate logins in your website also- please let me know process in details?

3) I applied for new passport as old one expired , so does it affect anything to my drop box eligibility as i do not see anything about it in your questionnaire.

4) Also, in DS 160 or where ever passport number is asked, I should enter NEW passport number (even thou my old visa is stamped on old passport which expired)?

1. If you are eligible for dropbox, I don not think you can choose to attend the interview.
2. As said, if one is eligible for it, one must submit documents at the designated locations.Separate DS-160 for both.
