H1b Visa interview-Lost old passport

Hello,

I am working in US in H1b Visa and soon going to India for vacation.I have booked appointment for my Visa interview as my Visa in the passport is expired.
My problem is I lost my Old passport .My current passport is valid from 2013 and I dont have any US visa stamped in my old passport.Any idea this will become a problem or what should I be doing in case of Old passport is lost?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My spouse(H4) has lost her passport, before registering a police complaint will like to know your experience.
