H1B visa

My son is in USA on F1 visa since 27/10/14 which is valid up to 23/10/19.After completion of his MS course,he is on OPT since 15/8/16 valid up to 15/8/17 doing a job in an

USA company.Recently,his H1B visa application was picked up in lottery.When will his visa status be changed from F1 to H1B?Should he apply for extension of OPT to

continue his job after 16/8/17 or will his status be changed before that date?

I doubt his H-1B status will be granted in time before his his OPT authorization runs out. If he is eligible for an extension, he should apply for it

also on H1, he can start working no earlier than 1 Oct and can enter in the US only 10 days advance.
