Vendor not paying my employer

I was working on H1, in EVC model. I went out of status, and realised it after 6 weeks. Then I immediately resigned my job, went out of country and came back on H4. Now my vendor is not paying my employer for those 6 weeks, where I went out of status. Vendor is giving excuse that, I was on out of status. Can my employer go legal on my vendor?

Yes. And your employer is obligated to pay you regardless if you were in status or their vendor paid them. You did the work, you need to get paid
