Travel question

I have an expired H1 visa. I am planning to travel to India from Chicago to Mumbai. There are couple of options I am looking at Chicago - London- Mumbai & Chicago - Dubai - Mumbai. Will I have any issues if I have an expired visa, if I travel on either of those routes? Please assist. Thanks.

London route is a problem. Dubai route is no problem.
