h1b to h4 COS

I was on h1b visa , but was unwell and resigned my job around a month
back on sep 15 2017.I have applied for change of status only last week oct 20 2017.
My question is will I be considered out of status after I resigned my job/
the 60 day grace period covers me from being out of status.

I believe the 60 days grace period considers only while moving jobs, not while doing a COS.
