Splitting name in Indian passport and changing I 797

Hi,

I have my surname as blank and given name as aaa bbb.
I would like to get it split as Surname: bbb and Given name: aaa

Also I will be visiting India for visa stamping.

Can I reissue the passport with updated name and then apply for US visa? But my I 797 will have my old name. Will that be a problem during interview?

Or else should I get the stamping done with my old name and then apply for my new passport with new name? If so, how will it affect my I 94? Will my I 94 be based on my new passport name or the name on visa (with old name)?

Please guide.
