Can travel to USA when indian passport expires in 3 months

My son is travelling to India during Jun-2018 and will be back in 11-11-2018 and his Indian passport expiring on Dec 16-2017. can my son travel to US back ?

can the son living in US fill the visitor visa online application for parents in India and sign electronically on behalf of the parents in India if they are not able to fill the online form as they are not much familiar with the internet/ online application method?
