My employer had filed for extension when I was working with Client A through a Vendor

My employer had filed for extension when I was working with Client A through a Vendor XYZ. While my H1B extension was on pending status (I94 also expired), my vendor got changed. But the client and employer are the same. Now I have an RFE to which I have to respond with client letter or SOW. Both those documents will reflect the new vendor's name. What can I do in such a scenario? Is it a risk to submit documents with new vendor's name? My employer has to told me that submitting new vendor's documents will result in rejection of extension.
