H4 EAD to H1b

I applied for both H4 EAD and H1b last year. I got EAD and started working for an employer using EAD. now I got H1b approved but that employer is different from my current employer.
What is my status now ? - H4 or H1b
Do I have to apply for change in status to change from H4 to H1b
Can I continue to work for my current employer until my status is changed to H1b
