H4 (with EAD) to F1 visa conversion options (posted: May 31, 2018)
Hi,
My wife is on H4 visa and she wants to convert to F1 visa. We are looking at the following options , please let us know which would be a better option.
Option 1: Go to Canada in August 2018.
Can we apply for F1 visa in Toronto center? What is the processing time and approval chances there?
Constraints: My H1B was extended in June 2017 and both of us have not stamped this extension in our passports. In case my wife's F1 gets rejected (in Canada), does she have to apply for another interview to get her passport stamped with the H4 extension, so as to re-enter the US?
Option 2: Go to India in December 2018.
Has anyone converted from H4 to F1 recently in India? If we go in December, she will have about 6 credits pending in her master's course. Will this be a concern?
Constraints: Same constraint as in option 1. What happens if F1 gets denied?
