Travel outside US

I have a valid H1b visa till Jun 2019, however my passport was expiring so the I-94 given at POE was till Passport end date only i.e Jul 2018. I have got a new passport now and also my application for Visa Extension is in progress. Can I travel out of USA and comeback on the basis of my initial petition?
