Query from an associate:
I had my H1B Visa Valid till June 2018 from Company A. My last day of employment with my Company A was January 31, 2018, it was revoked on January 31. On January 31, a new petition was filed with Company B (January 31 was Received date of petition as I see in I797). The filing was in premium processing. I joined the company on the basis of receipt on Feb 26, 2018, I got an RFE but it was cleared and visa was approved on March 18, 2018 and new I797 was issued which is valid till 2021. (I did know that my petition was revoked only after my new company filed my petition and I didn't inform Company B as petition was already file and the RFE I received was related to Job profile and my education.)
There is a gap of 25 days between the jobs i.e joining the new company and 48 days for the new petition to be approved.
I have read about the grace period of 60 days, was this applicable in my case? Also my question is; should it have been reported by me or Company B to USCIS or is this fine?
I have planned my travel to India, will this be an hurdle during Visa interview.
