Hi friends,

After receiving HDFC receipt, Is it necessary to apply online ?

I mean can I go directly to Visa Aplication centre ?

After you have your HDFC receipt, it takes two working days for the bar code on it to get activated.

The next step after you have the HDFC receipt is to fill in the application. This can be done online or if not even by visiting the Visa facilitation centre. You could do either of the two. The only difference is that if you fill in an online application you would be able to do any changes on the application form if anything comes up later (all changes other than the first few questions on form DS156 can be changed) but this is not possible with the apllication through the Visa facilitation centre where one would have to resubmit a new application if any changes come up later.

The next procedure after this depends on which consulate u are applying to, that is if u are applying at the Mumbai consulate or at the other ones.
