Approved H1B from 2013 Cap

Hello,

I've a cap approved H1B I129 effective from Dec 2013. I've never used this petition before for VISA stamping.

I did try to file cap exempt from another employer but was denied in 2014.

Currently I am on L1 at US but want to change company using my old H1B. Trying to understand, can I use that approved petition for cap exempt? if so, How long the new petition can be used? (another 6 years)?

Sorry if this was already discussed, couldn't find similar thread in search.

I think , for cap-exempt filling ..at least you should have used your old petition once and maintained an status on H1B .

Although i am not sure on status , please recheck .
