  • H1B emergency appointments

    Dear Friends,

I am new to this forum. I am on H1B working for a US University since May 2005 and would like to visit Bangladesh for a short term assignment in September '06. My visa is expired in June 2006 and needs re-stamping. When I check Chennai consulate website (http://www.vfs-usa.co.in), emergency appts are open only in March 2007. Do the returning workers qualify for emergency appointments?

Delhi consulate doesnot permit applicants from elsewhere. Can I do it in Bangladesh? If they reject me there, I cannot get back to Chennai consulate. Finally I cant come back to US, is'nt it?

Your suggestions are most welcome. Please!!!!!!!!

yes, eligible for emergency appointments. Check with VFS for the avaiable/desired dates

If you select "An Indian citizen resident in the US" then you can goto any of the 4 consulates (Select this option only if staying in US)

---- It should be read as " any of the 4 US Consulates in India"

          Dear Friends,

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it.

When I called Delhi consular section (New Delhi Consular District contact us by email at [email protected]) and told them that my first H1B stamping was at Asmara (Africa), they asked me to go to Chennai.

Another question: When I visit www.vfs-usa.co.in for checking availability of appt dates, it only gives the earliest date. For example yesterday is was March 13 and today it is available for 17 Sept at Chennai; I need somewhere in 1st week of oct. What should I do? Can we load the application (D156---) and wait for 7 days till the desired date is available?
