H4 visa question

My wife has already taken her H4 visa appnt for 20th november 2006.

Her passport has her maiden name.

Her marriage certificate has her married name.
My passport has been endorsed with her married name.

Is it mandatory for her to have her passport endorsed to reflect her change of name?

---- It is not necessary, but better to have a new passport. Since you have time on your hands she can get a new passport with her married name and carry both the Passports on the day of appointment (as she would have already taken an appointment with he previous passpot details)

You need not make any changes, as long as your H-4 is stamped in your passport.
Please ensure that you have your marriage certificate, photos, videos etc when you enter the US, since immigration is very finicky these days.

No the visa has not been stamped on the passport yet... she will be going for the interview on the 20h november of 2006.

Basically i am trying to find out if it will be an issue to have different names on marriage certificate and passport.

She can change her name to the married name in her passport by submitting the marriage certificate and the application at passport office. You will not have any problem then. It is correct to have the marriage certificate with ther maiden name.
