Can I schedule visa interview date with Delhi Consulate

Hi Everybody.
Basically I am from Hyderabad , working in Bangalore.
My h1b visa has been got approved. Now I have to attend Visa Interview.
can I schedule this interview with Delhi Consulate instead of Chennai.
Because in Delhi consulate I have dates in Sep 2006 month but where as for Chennai there are no apppointments till March 2007.

Please advise me on this

I think you cannnot take appointment in Delhi as your state as well as place of work fall under Chennai.

If you keep on trying, you can get some date before March because some slots will be available when some one cancels the appointment.

Moreover if your application got approved this year you cannot take an appointment before 1-Oct-2006.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

You can schedule before 1st Oct 2006 if your petition was approved this year. I know people who have (including me).

Can I assume that you petition was filed this year (i.e. after 01-Apr-2006). Also do you know anyone who has already taken the interview at the consulate???

You can take the appointment before 1st Oct. It is not a problem. but, you cannot start work in US before 1st Oct.
