Succesful H1B Stamping - But I797 is with VO.

I had a successful visa stamping at Chennai consulate on Sep 27th. But by mistake Visa Officer kept my Original I797(Notice of Approval) with him along with my Passport, DS156, Ds157. I have not noticed it immediately. Iam not sure whether I get it with my passport or not.

I found that VFS has not at received my passport yet. Please can anyone suggest me the alternative or how to approach the consulate on this.

If I don't get it with my passport is there any way to get it a copy of it from INS.

---- There is no need to panic. You will receive all the documents by mail includign I-797, Passport and visa. The VO will keep the I-797 to ensure that it is with the right Passport, name and other details

But I heard from few people that they were given it back along with the other documents after the interview itself. It frightened me.
