L1b to H1 - Travell outside US while H1 is being processed

Hi,

Can someone enlighten me whether I can travel outside US on short business trip while L1B to H1B is under process?

Background:

1. I work for Co A on L1B in US and my L1B & I-94 is good through Dec'07.
2. Co B has applied for transfer of status from L1B to H1 and I can expect
approval any time.
3. Meanwhile my current employer (Co A) has plans of sending me outside US
for about three to four weeks time on business trip. This means I will
still be on L1 status, my full salary will be paid in US, US tax deducted
as usual.

Queations:

1. Can I travel outside US while L1B to H1 is under process?
2. Can I travel outside US suppose I receive H1 approval before my
proposed travel from my current employer?
3. If I travel outside US and the H1 is approved while I am outside can I
enter US on my existing L1 visa?
4. Can I work for current employer until Dec 06 or Jan 07 on my L1 visa
even after I get H1 approval?
5. Does Co B has any options to legally inform USCIS about my joining date
with them to be Dec 06 of Jan 07? Or is tha I must and should work
for Co B from Oct onwards?
6. Since I am yet to hear my H1 approval (applied in May 06), whether H1
applied in this year quota can also be approved in next year?
7. What if I don't want H1 any more and happy to continue with current
employer on L1? Does it affect future H1 application?
