Can we modify the DS 156 & DS 157 forms?

IS it allowed to modify the DS 156 & DS 157 forms?
If so,How many working days before interview day shud this be done?

yes you can modify (but not from col#1 to col#14 or 12 in DS156)
you can modify all the forms upto 5 days prior to interview for Mumbai consulate and for others upto 2 days.
In case, you cannot modify, take a print out and highlight changes and let the officer know @ consulate know on interview date
