Can anyone please explain what are the custom limitations and regulations behind carrying gold ornaments and jewelry from India to US?
How much worth of ornaments do they allow a person to carry?

Is there any screening or declaration to be made either at Indian Customs Dept or US Customs before boarding the airline or at port of entry?

open an account with a local co-operative bank and keep most of the gold in the safe deposit locker. Just get what you really need back to the US. Especially if you live in an apartment in the US, you could lose all of it in case of a theft or fire..
