L1 to H1 visa transfer -- critical question

I am working in US and having L1B premium till Dec,2008.
Some other conpany at US will process my new H1 in April,2007.
I will join that company in October,2007.

I will be travelling to India for vacation in May, 2007 and while coming back to US in May, I have to get my Visa L1 stamped from Consulate under the name of my existing company where I am working now.

My questions are:
a) Will it affect my new H1 which will be under processing by that time?
b) Can it happen that consulate denies my L1 stamping viewing my H1 in processing?

---- Both are independent Visas. There is no cause for concern as this is a normal practice for switching over

b) Can it happen that consulate denies my L1 stamping viewing my H1 in processing?
