How recent should be the employment letter?

I have my employer's letter dated aug'06 is it good enough to get H1B visa revalidation in Dec 06.

I have a valid I797 till dec'09

please reply its urgent!!!!

Should be OK.
You can take recent payslips for furthur proof that you're still with the same company.
