H1 transfer immediately after start date

Hi,

I am on OPT now. My H1 is going to start from January 1st , 2007. But, I just got an opportunity with another employer and they would like to transfer my H1 immediately. Do they need three paychecks to transfer my H1 or can they do it immediately. Please let me know if there are any clauses in this case.
