Expired passport

I have visa up to 2010 in my old passport which expired and I have send it for renewal
Can I carry both the passport with me or I have to transfer to new one Please let me know ASAP USA passport office told me I can carry both also we had visa camp in Columbus he said the same thing

Yes, you just carry both passports.
