Lost my I 797

Hi Subramanyam,

I am Naren, I lost my I797 after entering ito US ( I lost some where in the port of entry), I have copy of it ,plse help me what I need to now ,I need to apply for duplicate one or it it ok by having copy of it

---- If it not urgent and necessary you need not apply. You can retain the copy and stay in US. For example if it is going to expire in 6-12 months.

---- However, if you feel that you may go out of the country on personal or business visits, you may think of applying for a duplicate (this takes upto 6 months some times). The form for applying for a duplicate is I-824. The fees and other details can be had on the USCIS website
