Vacation before working on H1b

Hello,
I am applying for H1B visa(currently on H4) when the quota for 2008 opens this April, I understand that I can start working not earlier than oct' 2007.Is it possible to go on a vacation to India in these few month and be back well before october on my current H4 status?

If you are planning to go for vacation, apply for an H1 next year under the 2009 quota, not now. If you apply now and go for a vacation, you cannot work on that H1.
