B1 application after H1B application

Hi,

I have applied for the H1 from Company X for this year. If two months later my present employer ask me to file for B1 then can i do that? what would be the implications of it? Would the US consulate ask me to provide reason for it.

---- Yes, you may be asked for an explanation if your H1 is not yet granted/approved

---- That is because the US Consulate will consider that you are trying to go to the US by some means or the other and you are impatient in waiting for your H1 petition to be approved and tehn apply for H1 Visa
