Qns regarding H4 - Change in rule?

Hi,
I am in H1. I want to get my wife in H4. For that Do I have to endorse my name in her passport? I heard from someone that recently they changed the policy and it is not mandatory to endorse hunband's name in wife's passport.
I am confused more so bcoz my last name and wife's last name are different.
Can anyone pls help me in clearing my doubt?
